Vampires are human-like beings most known for their pseudo-immortality and bloodsucking nature. They are found throughout the entire world, usually isolated, either wandering about or livng in their own castles. They posses superhuman speed and strength, but as they are constantly hunted, they often live in secrecy. Most stories to them are true - they are weak to holy artifacts, and they are vulnerable to sunlight, but vampires aren't really weak to garlic. When killed, they do not leave bodies - rather, they turn into ash. A vampire's greatest enemy is boredom: after all what would you do when you have all the time in the world?

Most vampires today began life as normal humans before they succumbed to vampirism. There are two known ways to end up being a vampire - first is through the use of a high level of magecraft that changes one's biological attributes. The second is through the usual means, by having a vampire suck your blood and having the human's blood be mixed with a vampire's in the process. Not all survive this process however - a good reason on why vampires are still few in numbers. However, most bitten vampires do not immediately become actual vampires - the body first goes into several changes, some of which may be skipped depending on circumstances:

[/b][/font] at this stage, the creature if more like a zombie rather than a vampire. They act as familiars to the vampire who bit them, mindlessly following orders. They eat their victims rather than just sucking their blood and use the bodies to regenerate their own - most of the energy gained from draining blood is returned to the Ghoul's vampire master. Once a Ghoul has recovered all of its body parts, including the brain, the Ghoul then becomes The Dead.

THE DEAD - These are vampires that work for their superiors - they are still mostly obedient humans, but they now also hunt for blood in order to keep their bodies immortal. Most of them are used as slaves by their masters, in order to expand territory and claim more blood in secrecy. As the main vampire sleeps, his minions go forth and make more minions, as well as giving most of the energy from the blood back to their master. They are capable of will and self-thinking, allowing The Dead to be capable of killing and overthrowing their master. If successful, all the other Dead under that vampire dies, and the successful over thrower becomes a Dead Apostle.

DEAD APOSTLE - At this stage, the Church considers the vampire to be a real threat to humanity. The Dead Apostle is the authentic human-turned vampire - they do not age, and they cannot be killed through normal means. However, they require blood to replenish their cells, and thus they suck human blood out of necessity - the vampiric impulse that comes with this trait is a survival maneuver, and once a Dead Apostle has tasted blood, he or she can no longer stop. Some of their human victims become Ghouls or The Dead under his service. Dead Apostles may also partake in animal flesh or blood - as a result, their characteristics become slightly more animalistic, and they become capable of using animal familiars. Partake in too many animals, however, and the Dead Apostle risks being a conglomerate of different savage minds rather than one thinking individual.

They still cannot move during the day, but they gain regenerative powers during the night - they are capable of gathering strength from the moon, and thus their abilities are stronger whenever the moon is full.

A Dead Apostle's initial strength may be measured by the strength of the vampire that bit him or her.[/ul][/justify]

A long time ago, Gaia requested help - to be saved from the humans who kept on trying to destroy her. The people of the moon answered its call in exchange for shelter - their own home is dying, and they have nowhere else to go to. Gaia agreed, and such the bloodsucking creatures came down to fulfill their promise. Only a handful of them exist today - they are called the True Ancestors, the strongest and the original vampires.

True Ancestors are stronger and faster than any other kind of vampire, and are even capable of moving during the day/ They are almost unstoppable during the night, and they are invincible when the full moon is at midst. There is no need for True Ancestors to drink blood in order to survive, but they do have an impulse that makes them want to - the reason why Dead Apostles existed in the first place. In order to keep this impulse at bay, True Ancestors usually restrain their powers. However, the impulse is unstoppable and eventually, the True Ancestor shall succumb to temptation and begin to drink human blood - once they do, this impulse may only grow stronger. They shall be free to use the entirety of their abilities, but their addiction to blood will be unstoppable. The Church refers to such True Ancestors as DEMON LORDS, and are always their top priority to kill.
